Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and EMHS (Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems) have approved a definitive agreement to form a strategic alignment in which Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and all of its affiliated clinics and outpatient services will be integrated into EMHS. The organizations had signed a non-binding letter of intent August 4, 2014.
Normal operations resume for EMHS business offices in the greater Bangor area on Wednesday, January 28.
Due to the blizzard being forecast for tomorrow, January 27, EMHS is planning to close its offices in greater Bangor that take care of the system’s business functions. All clinical locations will be open for business as usual and not affected by the closure of the business offices on Tuesday only.

EMHS is being linked to lively debate concerning legislation that would redefine full-time employment under the Affordable Care Act from 30 hours a week to 40 hours a week. EMHS does not have a formal position on this issue, and did not participate in a media event in support of the legislation that was held last Wednesday (Jan. 7, 2015) in Washington, DC.
