Steve Berkowitz, MD has accepted an expanded interim role as EMHS chief medical officer, in addition to his current role as interim president of the newly formed system medical group.
Brewer, Maine – (June 23, 2017) – After 20 years of leading EMHS philanthropic efforts, Michael Crowley has decided to leave EMHS Foundation in favor of helping the place he calls home.  Crowley will become the first executive director of Our Katahdin, a not for profit organization that is promoting community and economic development in the Katahdin region.
Moody’s Investor Services announced today a downgrade of EMHS’ credit rating to Ba1 with a negative outlook. Moody’s informed EMHS earlier this year that a downgrade from Baa3 was being considered. Last month, EMHS senior leadership met with representatives of Moody’s in New York and discussed the system’s improved financial performance while also revealing a solid plan for continued improvement.

EMHS has chosen Cerner, a global leader in healthcare technology, to implement its integrated electronic medical record (EMR) system. The single EMR will replace five different systems that are in use now throughout EMHS.
