OneMaine Health, a collaboration between Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, MaineGeneral Health and MaineHealth, announced the release of Maine’s first comprehensive, statewide community health needs assessment. The three health systems will work closely with Maine hospitals and Healthy Maine Partnerships to host local forums to share the information, begin discussions and develop action plans based on the report’s findings.
EMHS is pleased to announce that five residents currently living in EMHS long-term care facilities were honored on Friday, April 15, during the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA) “Remember ME” ceremony held in the Hall of Flags at the Maine State House. The five recipients are Harold Borns, Jr. of Dirigo Pines in Orono, Marguerite Sherburne of Dexter Health Care in Dexter, as well as three honorary mentions - Irvin Moore of Ross Manor in Bangor, Marie McPherson of Stillwater Health Care in Bangor, and Helen Tuttle of Lakewood in Waterville.
Twenty-eight healthcare systems representing more than 100 hospitals in six New England states have come together to form a new company, the Northeast Purchasing Coalition LLC. This supply network represents close to 17,000 hospital beds, 5,000 physicians and more than $2 billion in combined annual non-salary expenses. Dan Coffey, EMHS executive vice president and chief financial officer is chairman of this new venture.
EMHS is proud to celebrate National Volunteer Week, April 10-16. Throughout central, eastern, and northern Maine, EMHS members have many dedicated volunteers that are committed to helping to serve our patients and community. In Greater Bangor, Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) Volunteer Services, Rosscare, and EMHS recognize the people in our community who take time out of their day to lend a helping hand. Whether it’s calling seniors to ensure they are well, assisting our many individual departments, or a warm greeting by a patient’s bedside, volunteers brighten the day for many of our community members.
